Oh God, this scene makes me so happy. It’s hilarious. You can’t enjoy their outstanding facial expressions (they may be considered a match made in heaven even just for this little particular LOL) and listen to Rachel’s insane chatting without smiling even a little bit.

Anyway, it wasn’t just the “comic”side of the scene that made me say “OMG, I love them..I love them!”. There’s something more in this scene. You can see how they’re a perfect match. You know, when Rachel mentions “Patti LuPone” and “Mandy Patinkin” he perfectly knows what she’s talking about (and the fact he takes her so seriously always craks me up LOL). This because he’s the only one who can keep with her intellectually. They come from the same world. They don’t need so many words to understand each other. And this is very important in a relationship, IMHO.

Then, you can see how Rachel trusts Jesse so much, revealing him which was her biggest dream..and yes, we all know that his interest to help her into the research wasn’t purely genuine (hello, Shelby Corcoran) but I honestly admit that I tend to forget about this detail during this scene. Because he’s so caring, so focused on Rachel. he doesn’t want to say anything that may hurt her. He let her speak about her hypothesis/not-very-realistic thesis without telling her she was crazy but gently letting her know which was the real point asking her a simple question: “Why are you so afraid about finding the truth?”. And then Rachel quits the role of the Diva to be who she is indeed, a scared girl, which is afraid of the truth…and opens her heart to Jesse which shows he’s here for her, by her side, no matter which was his original purpose. And this is LOVE. for me, at least.
